When waves originate from the Pacific Ocean the wind has the final say on how they break at the shoreline. A dazzling effect called spindrift occurs as the wind blows just forcefully enough to scatter the crests. As the wave’s edges are whipped away in sheer-walls of ocean spray they mark their final landing with exclamations of echoing crashes.
